happy australia day

 I spent yesterday in traditional Australia Day style at a friend's back deck BBQ - complete with sausages and tomato sauce, cricket, a blow up pool and Triple J's Hottest 100. While all the boys were watching cricket, the girls went inside and played Wii Bowling and Tennis doubles. It was my first time playing Wii and it was lots of fun once I got the hang of it! I even managed to get several strikes in bowling once my technique was downpat haha.

As I did last year on my blog (wow can't believe how fast a year of blogging has gone!) I wanted to make a special mention to some of my favourite music featured in Triple J's Hottest 100. I was very pleased to hear Matt Corby's moving song "Brother" make it to number 3 in the countdown.

This is one of those rare spontaneous moments in life where everything just falls spectacularly into place. Gospel singers sure do have some soul. So moving.

musical joy

I have watched this performance several times now and everytime I do it uplifts me :) Oh to be casually strolling through Central Park and stumbling across this! There is such a great vibe here-  it's summertime, there is music is in the air and everyone feels like they are a part of something special.
I really admire Beyonce- she epitomises a strong, empowered woman who proves that if you chase your dreams you can make them a reality! She is also an incredibly heart-felt performer and so self-assured. Loving this song 1+1 from her new album "4".

Despite what everyone said... I am glad they won.

That is brother/sister combo Angus and Julia Stone winning Triple J's Hottest 100 on Australia Day with their song "Big Jet Plane"

Their music is sort of like a lullaby. I know this song in particular has soothed me off to sleep a few times. One of my favourite albums to listen to at night.
