homemade christmas treats

Tis the season! This weekend I made a few christmas treats.

Fruit mince pies... I used a star-shaped wire napkin holder to cut out the stars!
We then rolled out the left over pastry with a rolling pin  to make a second batch :)

Rum balls using my grandmas recipe ;)

Eggnog!!! I have always wanted to try this and now I finally have! Verdict? Delicious!
I used a recipe for one found here and skipped step 3 to serve it cool :)

giggles

Lots of giggles tonight and just wanted to share a few :)

christmas time

This is a particularly special christmas for me as it is my first christmas living out of home!
Here is a picture of me with our little christmas tree after setting it up last night :)

We had lots of fun christmas decorating and listening to christmas songs

Our baby Christmas trees 1st christmas in the new home.
They had sold out of the larger ones but when we got it home it looks so adorable we couldn't imagine any other!

carnival of flowers

Our weekend trip to Toowoomba coincided with their annual Carinval of Flowers, which is held each spring. Jenna's mum took us for a stroll through Kings Park, where we saw a spectacular display of the most beautiful flowers- all in full bloom.

lovely toowoomba

A few weekends ago Jenna  and her mum took me to a gorgeous homewares store in Toowoomba. Here is a collection of some of the treasures they had there :)

adversity

For my smart, beautiful friend Meg who has been through quite the ordeal over the past month.
You have so many people who love and support you and we all know that you will absolutely excel in your chosen career path.
Remember that adversity only makes you stronger.

currently listening to....

Florence and the Machine.
The perfect music to get you through a work day :)

dear photograph

I had seen this before, but my lovely friend Jess just reminded me of it when she blogged about it! Dearphotograph.com invites people to "to take a picture of a picture from the past in the present". The below pictures were not taken by me, but they touched me in some way.

For those of you who know me well you will know that I am rather nostalgic.  The piano photo reminds me of me playing Sound of Music tunes on my grandparents piano; the water images remind me of similar pictures of me in the pool, beach or out on a boat with my dad and granddad; the places photos remind of where I have been (Disneyland) and where I hope to go someday (Eiffel Tower). I'll have to try this. Enjoy.

all photos courtesy of amazing people around the world that chose to
share them with us via dearphotograph :)

P.S. When you visit the site make sure you read the captions- they are really touching
